He became the Dayton-Hudson Corporation, after joining the JL Hudson company in 1969 and has retained ownership of some supermarket chains including Dayton’s, Hudson’s, Marshall Field- of, and Mervyn’s.

Target established itself as the highest division of gaining Dayton Hudson Corporation in 1970 it began expanding store nationwide in the 1980s and introduced new store formats in the Target brand in 1990.
