Aldi Weekly Ad – Aldi (stylized as Aldi) is a common brand of two global leading discount supermarket chain with more than 10,000 stores in 18 countries, and an estimated combined turnover of more than € 50 billion. Based in Germany, the chain founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946, when they took over their mother’s shop in Essen which has been operating since 1913. The brothers built a chain of stores until, by 1960 they owned 300 stores and split operations two separate groups, which later became Aldi Nord, which is headquartered in Essen; and Aldi Süd, headquartered in Mülheim nearby. Both operate independently, each in a different geographical area. The second is one of the largest private companies in the world.

In 1962, they introduced the names Aldi (short syllables of Albrecht Diskont), which is pronounced. In Germany, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd has been financially and legally separated since 1966, although the names of the two divisions’ may appear (as if they were a single company) with some brand stores or when negotiating with the contracting company. Formal business name is Aldi Einkauf GmbH & Compagnie, oHG.

Aldi German operations consist of 35 individual company’s Aldi Nord region with approximately 2,500 stores in 32 regional companies western, northern and eastern Germany, and Aldi Süd’s 1,600 stores in western and southern Germany.
