Food City weekly ad is currently available in your local store. Food City actually dates back to 1918 when a Greeneville store in Tennessee was opened, but the official start of the K-VA-T food store was held in 1955 when founder Jack C. Smith - with his father, Curtis and Uncle Earl- opened the first store in Grundy, Virginia. Since then, Food City has grown to jump through the purchase of several Piggly Wiggly operations in southwestern Virginia and East Kentucky, along with Quality Foods / Food City, White Stores, Winn Dixie and BI-LO units in eastern Tennessee. The company has also gradually increased its spread to new market areas, while rearranging and replacing existing locations as needed to best serve their customers.
It owns K-VA-T food stores, private family and corporations owned by employees (only 13% through ESOP) based in Abingdon, Virginia. Since August 2017, K-VA-T has 131 retail outlets (121 Food City stores, 10 Super Dollar stores, 5 shops and 2 Food City Wine & Spirits) in Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia . The chain includes 100 pharmacies in the shop and 87 petrol stations.
